BACK YARD RETREAT

Vacation without leaving home

The client requested an outdoor space to enjoy family and friends.  The team at D. Allen Design converted this back yard into an outdoor retreat and entertainment area. Upon entering the gate, stepping stones provide direction to a blue stone patio that overlooks a koi pond and waterfall.  Granite steps lead guests to an entertainment area that includes a large patio with an outdoor cooking area, ample counter space, an indoor kitchen, bathroom, utility/storage, fire pit, salt /mineral pool with a waterfall.  Thoughtful landscaping surrounds the pool for exclusive privacy.

REMODEL

New Beginnings

Memories from the heart helped transform this clients new home. After raising her family, client decided she needed her new home to reflect a new phase in her life; keeping memories close yet wanting a fresh modern look to reflect the new changes. The project included a home office, living room and kitchen.

SUSTAINABILITY

Smart and Friendly

With the addition of reclaimed and sustainable materials, our team created a timeless and relaxed atmosphere. This pool house, kitchen and bathroom was the perfect project to use reclaimed materials. The floorboards in the kitchen, are reclaimed barn boards with a marine grade stain to protect the wood floor from pool water. The reclaimed ceiling beams make a great addition to the Venetian plastered ceiling. Remnants from ceiling beams allowed the team to create kitchen counter and storage areas. A reclaimed teak wall in the bathroom added interest and completed the area. With a few reclaimed products, we were able to create the intended timeless design that the client requested.
